Boothbay Ramble

It looks like we've got some genuine interest in this outing, but we need some real numbers. The best date appears to be August 22nd. If you would like to join this ride, we'd love to have you, but please respond to this post in the affirmative so we can start to nail things down.

If you're interested, could you also comment on a preferred start time. The route that's mapped out is almost 38 miles, filled with short hills. If the group stops at all (eg. sightseeing, coffee), we'll likely take 2.5 to 3 hours to finish, so I'd suggest an 8:30 start. Open to suggestion.

An update on timing and a little more information:
The ride will start at the Nickercane Island boat launch. Coming in to Boothbay on Rte. 27, after passing the Information booth and then the new entrance to the Boothbay Harbor Country Club (on left), you take a right on Corey Lane. Go through one stop sign, then a few hundred yards down the road, take a right on Barter's Island road towards the Botanical Gardens (great place to visit if you've never been there). The Nickercane boat launch is just a little further down the road past the Botanical Gardens. If you get to the Trevett Country Store (381 West Barter island road is a useful GPS address), you've gone too far. There is parking on the left side of the road in the lot opposite the launch ramp, (near the Kayak launch if anyone is up for kayaking after biking). Ride will start at 9:00am on Saturday 8/22.
E-mail Paul at falllinew204@gmail.com if you plan to join, so that we know who to be looking for.

The 37.7 mile route takes us past Adams pond (picture attached), the Boothbay country club, around the end of east Boothbay (great views of the ocean), around Southport Island (again great view at the end..see attached picture) and back to the launch (riding alongside an ocean inlet). At a moderate pace (old "B" pace), the ride should take roughly 2.5-3 hours, depending on whether we want to make a stop at one of the country stores along the way or for pictures.
