8/31 Saturday Ride

The fall centuries are upon us! Here is the schedule so far:
9/21    Loon Echo (unsupported, but we miss it, so we’re going!)
9/28    Dempsey Challenge (if you’d like to join a team, I invite you to join Molly’s
              Marshals [story below])
10/6    Cadillac Challenge (the prettiest century in Maine, and that’s saying something)

As I hope to be riding in all of these, that gives us just two weeks to get some miles into the legs. I think I’ll let you do the flat miles during the week, and we’ll concentrate on some hills on the weekends. So, our next two rides look like this:
8/31    We need to head either to Brunswick (65 miles & 2700’ of climbing) or
All Uphill to Pinelands (52 miles & 2900’ of climbing, with an optional
11-mile kicker for an additional 700’). Load them both, come with a preference. 9/7       Whichever we didn't do on 9/7
9/14     You guessed it: Raymond Hills for 60 miles and 4000’ of climbing.
Remember to pack some sunscreen, good snacks, and two bottles. See you at 8:00.

STORY: In a cruel twist of fate, one of our attorneys here at Pierce Atwood, after spending two years of pro-bono work helping the Maine Cancer Center and Dempsey Center combine into a single entity, learned that his wife's cancer has reasserted itself. In honor of her and all those fighting the disease, we have formed Team Molly's Marshalls. If you would like to join the group as a rider, walker, runner, or Rest Stop volunteer, there is a place for you! If you'd like to sponsor me in this effort, there is a link for you!

9/24 Saturday Ride

sorry for the late post, folks: I am out to sea and not thinking about bikes (too much). Dealer’s choice tomorrow—we’ll start prepping for the fall centuries next week.

Aug 17 Saturday Ride

I’m not sure which ride was chosen last weekend, but there was a sneaky reason for posting two options: I knew I’d be traveling this week and wouldn’t have time to pick a ride. My evil plot worked perfectly and, this week, we’re going to ride the one that didn’t happen! If anyone can tell me what was already ridden, I’ll only have to load one map into the Garmin. See you at 8:00.

Aug 10 Saturday Ride

This is BikeMS weekend--I will be down in Biddeford tackling a 100/75 mile two-day effort in what promises to be great weather!

But, as they say, the ride must go on (they DO say that, right?)! I know we will have a couple of new riders tomorrow, so I'm offering two courses. The first heads down to Saco and back through Buxton/Scarborough:

The second goes out into Standish and Salmon Falls:

I leave it to the group to choose.

BTW, if you've never done the BikeMS course, it's really quite nice:

Aug 4 SUNDAY Ride

In order to allow people to participate in/support the Beach to Beacon, we're bumping the ride to Sunday. Freeport/Brunswick is the route, with a stop at Little Dog (if I make it that far).

Wheels roll at 8:00.
