THIRD ANNUAL BLACK FRIDAY RIDE

Bruce Smith can't lead the ride this year due to surgery on both knees, but that doesn't mean we should forgo the Turkey-Burner, our last official CCCP ride of the season. The weather looks sunny and  a seasonal 45°.

Meet at 10 a.m. this FRIDAY the 24th in the public parking lot in Westbrook on William Clarke Drive (Rte. 25 bypass) across from True Value Hardware, behind the CVS on  870 Main Street.

9/9 Saturday Ride

The Lighthouse ride is calling my name, folks; since the Saturday ride has been so lightly attended for the past month or so, I see little cause to deny myself.

I'm thinking of putting the ride on hiatus until the other weekly rides stop for lack of light.

If anyone wants to ride, please tell me. If anyone can suggest ways to improve attendance of the SMR, please tell me that, too.

9/2 Saturday Ride

I'm thinking either Mitchell Hill or out to Groham: count on 45-50 miles. If no one's there in the morning, I'm taking the 29er up to Bradbury!

8/26 Saturday Ride

I'm traveling this weekend, so it's a dealer's choice. I can post a preferred ride if anyone offers. Keep the rubber side down!

7/8 Saturday Ride

I admit it: I am completely undecided on tomorrow's route, so I am opening it up to the group. Bring your ideas for tomorrow, but let's keep it under 50 miles to be sure to finish before the rain. See you at 8:00.

3/1 Saturday Ride

We have been a small group of late, so I think we can go almost anywhere. We haven't gotten the Saco ride in for a couple of seasons, so why not now? The weather looks perfect, so let's go for it. Maybe a variation, heading out to Gorham from the coast--I guess we'll see in the morning.

6/24 Saturday Ride

Course TBD, based on weather (the coast looks drier than inland). Bring suggestions--see you at 8:00.

6/17 Saturday Ride

I'm caught between Mitchell Hill and Pinelands via Hodgdon tomorrow, so think about it and we can choose then. It looks like we have a better-than-even chance of rain tomorrow morning, so we're just going to have to get up and see what the weather's doing. Remember, we're meeting at the radio tower parking lot.

6/10 Saturday Ride

It looks like we finally get a beautiful day to ride tomorrow! Let's head out to Pinelands via Dutton and Long Hill--that should leave plenty of options for length on the way home.

I'm doing a century on Sunday for the Tour de Cure, so I'll have to pull off early, but I'll see you at 8:00

6/2 Saturday Ride

We never did get the Saco ride in last year, so how about we get down there before all the touristas start getting in the way? 55° at start time, so the weather looks fine. It's 62 miles, so we'll plan to stop at the Saco Bay Variety for refills.

As an alternative, I offer Bruce's Buxton/Standish ride (52 miles):

5/27 Saturday Ride

The Memorial Day ride is right on the doorstep, but this week's rain has interrupted my riding, so I'm looking to do a short, easy loop to keep the legs loose. How about Cape? It should be a lovely day, so we might as well take in the shore. Depending on attendance, we can change the plan if folks want another route, but let's roll at 8:00.

5/20 Saturday Ride

Wow--it's our last weekend before the Memorial Day White Mountain Classic--when did that happen??? It feels like we haven't gotten nearly enough riding in, but if we don't get some hills, it's going to be a sufferfest in two weeks. You know what that means: it's time for the Raymond Hill ride!

This is a 60 mile route starting in Cumberland Center with six Cat 5 climbs. We'll meet at the Mabel Wilson School on Tuttle Road at 8:30. The weather looks like it will be very comfortable for the work ahead, so we've got that going for us. I'm working on some alternatives for those not up for it but, really, no one's ever up for it; it simply has to be done!

5/13 Saturday Ride

Memorial Day is just a few short weeks away, friends, so we need some miles! Let's go visit the Little Dog Cafe in Brunswick--this route gives us a number of distance options so, if you're up for anything between 35 and 70, come on along!

It's going to stay right around 50° tomorrow, so dress for success, bring some snacks, and don't forget the coffee money. Wheels roll at 8:00.

5/6 Saturday Ride

Well, sports fans, it is not looking too good for the morning. Cold and wet is my least favorite combination. I will leave the option open for the weather to change--let's call it a 9:00 start with a route TBD.

4/29 Saturday Ride

I know, I know--I'm getting webbed feet, too. But we're going to post anyway and hope for the best!

I'll be out of town, so Bruce will be your ride leader this weekend, and he's selected something close to home but with lots of options in case the weather stays fair. The temps should be in the 50s; wheels roll at 8:00.

4/22 Saturday Ride

Well, pedaling pals, it's looking a bit dampish tomorrow. The rain is supposed to clear late morning. Because there's nothing worse than cold and damp (unless it's cold, damp, and snowing), let's move the start time to 10:00 and give the rain a chance to move off. I was counting on Mitchell Hill, so be sure to dress warmly and pack some snacks. We can omit the loop around Cape if the weather seems unfavorable. Fingers Crossed.

4/15 Saturday Ride

Well then: it's actually going to be above 50° at 9:00 Saturday morning, so how about we start at 9:00 Saturday morning? Let's head out towards Highland Lake with an eye towards Mitchell Hill next week.

Inaugural Ride, Take 2

It seemed like a good idea last week, so how about we try again this week? It should be about 40° and partly sunny tomorrow, so we ought to have a good day. Wheels roll at 10:00.

2017 Inaugural Saturday Ride

Greetings, intrepid pedalers! I'll be out of town getting muddy this coming Saturday, but since that will not keep the season from starting, Greg has agreed to take the helm (or at least keep you from getting lost). We'll open with the Freeport loop, assuming Ullr doesn't spoil everything with a new blanket of white.

If you don't find yourselves snow blowing, wheels roll at 10:00 from behind the shop.
